Lenses

At First Contact Opticians, our expertise starts in the consulting rooms and continues right through the whole practice. Our team will first discuss your needs and then recommend the best lenses for you based on your prescription and lifestyle.

We are delighted to be an Essilor Varilux Bespoke Practice, although we are able to provide lenses by other major suppliers such as Zeiss, Shamir and Hoya.

For any further information about any of our lenses, please come into the practice and we can discuss these in more detail:
SINGLE VISION LENSES - Single vision lenses have a single power across the whole lens. This means that it can either be made up to distance, intermediate or reading prescription only.

EYEZEN LENSES - An enhanced single vision lens designed for 18 to 45 year olds to suit 21st century lifestyles. Nowadays, our eyes have to focus more intensively and repeatedly to adjust to close and variable distances with frequent switching between device. Eyezen Focus technology contains a boost located in the bottom of the lens to support the eye’s accommodation effort when using digital devices. They reduce eyestrain by improving the readability of small characters and in turn helps you to adopt a more natural posture when using digital devices.

OCCUPATIONAL LENSES - This is an ideal lens for patients that require correction for all close work. This lens will not correct your distance vision, but is perfect for anyone in an office based workplace or who spends a lot of time in front of computers but also needs to read small print. It has two different prescriptions incorporated into the lens, and can be tailored based on your required working distances.

ROADPILOT LENSES - Available as either a single vision or varifocal option, these are perfect for the increasing number of people who find glare an issue when driving. The lens has a unique finish on it which is specifically designed to reduce glare from headlights on cars. The varifocal version is also more comfortable for driving than a regular varifocal, as it has a large area with your distance prescription, and also a large area to bring your dashboard into focus.

VARIFOCAL LENSES - Generally for patients over the age of 40, this is the best solution for someone who wishes to see at all distances with one pair of spectacles. The top part of the lens is for seeing at far distances and this gradually increases in strength until the full reading prescription is reached near the bottom of the lens. You can use the middle part  of the lens for arms length distances - for example looking at a computer screen. There are lots of different designs of varifocal lenses, for more information about our bespoke lenses, click here.
